TWO CHEFS ON A ROLL OPENS EAST COAST MANUFACTURING FACILITY
Senator Robert J. Mellow in conjunction with The Scranton Plan and Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services held a ribbon cutting ceremony today in honor of Two Chefs on a Roll Inc.’s first East Coast Manufacturing Facility. Two Chefs has leased 13,000 square feet in the Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services building, located in the Jessup Small Business Center, Jessup, PA. At full operation the company will employ 70 people.

Headquartered in Carson, CA, Two Chefs on a Roll is a fresh and frozen prepared foods provider, specializing in the manufacturing of savory sauces, dips, soups and desserts for the U.S. retail and foodservice markets. The company is a part of the U.S. division of Bakkavör Group, a world leading producer of custom and private label prepared foods and produce.

“We’ve been wanting to grow the East Coast for a number of years and trying to figure out how to make it happen,” said Lori Daniel, founder, Two Chefs on a Roll. “We’re really thrilled we can make it happen.”

"It is exciting to realize that northeastern Pennsylvania has the ability to attract manufacturers of this magnitude," said Senator Robert J. Mellow, the Democratic Leader of the Pennsylvania Senate. "Two Chefs will provide another economic boost to a region that has an excellent available work force."

The Jessup Small Business Center was constructed by SLIBCO, the Chamber’s “bricks and mortar” arm. SLIBCO has constructed most of Lackawanna County’s industrial, business, office and technology parks. Since it creation in 1946, SLIBCO working in concert with the Chamber’s other development arms, has developed more than 2,700 acres and has spearheaded more than 348 major development projects. These projects have created more than 20,000 jobs and have added more than $570 million in new real estate investment to the local economy

“I am thrilled to welcome Two Chef’s as the newest tenant of Jessup Small Business Center,” said Austin J. Burke, president, the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. “The growth of the manufacturing industry sector is key to the success and growth of our community. I look forward to seeing Two Chefs develop, becoming one of Greater Scranton’s principal employers, creating quality manufacturing positions.”

Other tenants of the Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services building include Northeast Laminated Glass, a custom laminated products manufacturer; BAE Systems, a manufacturer of helmets and military field equipment; and Haband, a privately held mail order company, providing a full line of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories.

“We are pleased to welcome four new tenants to our Jessup facility and announce that it is now 100% occupied,” said Mericle Chief Operating Officer Lew Sebia. “We expect there to be more than 300 employees at this site when the companies have reached their full staffing levels.”

Special thanks was given to Governor Rendell, Senator Robert Mellow, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Governor’s Action Team, Lackawanna County, Jessup Borough and the Valley View School district for their support and assistance in the development of Jessup Small Business Center.
