| Scranton Plan Hosts Winter Fest |
| The Scranton Plan, in association with Penn’s Northeast, PPL Electric Utilities, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry and the Greater Hazleton Can-Do, recently joined forces to host more than 200 executives, real estate brokers, consultants and site selection specialists at the annual Winter Fest. The event is designed to introduce corporate executives to the quality of life in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Attendees of the event enjoyed a day of skiing at Montage Mountain, followed by a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins AHL hockey game at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. “The Winter Fest provides and excellent opportunity for The Scranton Plan to join forces with the region’s economic development organizations to promote Northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Amy S. Luyster, research and marketing director, The Scranton Plan. “First-time guests of the festival are astonished at the amount of development that has taken place on Montage Mountain and the surrounding areas. They leave a great salespersons for the region.” Since the mid 1980’s more than $200 million in new construction has taken place on Montage Mountain. Various development projects include the 11,000 seat Lackawanna County Stadium, the 6,900-yard Glenmaura National Golf Club and the Montage Mountain Sports and Entertainment Complex, offering a ski resort, performing arts center and summer fun park. Also located there are dozens of executive homes and townhouses, three hotels, restaurants, movie theater mega complex and corporate office facilities for The Prudential, JCPenney Catalog Customer Service, The New York Times Company/WNEP-TV 16, Bank of America, CIGNA HealthCare and Diversified Information Technologies.
