Armor Holdings Brings 200 New Jobs to Jessup Small Business Center
Armor Holdings, a defense contract manufacturer, is relocating and expanding its operations into the Jessup Small Business Center, Jessup, PA.

Armor Holdings, formerly Specialty Defense Systems, will lease 100,000 square feet of the Verus Flex Building. The company will retain more than 200 employees and will create an additional 200 new manufacturing positions.

"Since our acquisition of Specialty Defense in 2004, we have been extremely pleased with the quality of the workforce," said Joseph W. Coltman, senior vice president and general manager of Armor Holdings Aerospace and Defense Group's Individual Equipment Systems Division. "When it came time to expand our operations to meet our customers' needs, the Scranton area was an obvious choice for us. We are proud to make this investment in the business and the community."

Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Armor Holdings Inc. operates 25 facilities in over 9 countries and is a leading manufacturer and provider of specialized security products; training and support services related to these products; vehicle armor systems; military helicopter seating systems, aircraft and land vehicle safety systems; protective equipment for military personnel; and other technologies used to protect humans in a variety of life-threatening or catastrophic situations. Their products and systems are used domestically and internationally by military, law enforcement, security and corrections personnel, as well as governmental agencies, multinational corporations and individuals.

The Scranton Plan, the industrial marketing arm of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, is working to market the park as the premier location for manufacturing and distribution facilities in the Northeast U.S. "The combination of top-notch developers like Verus Partners, the KOEZ designation and the park's proximity to the major interstate and quality labor pool in the Northeast equates to a very attractive locale for employers," stated Austin J. Burke, president, The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
