Amy S. Luyster has been promoted to the position of Vice President of The Scranton Plan, effective September 1.
Ms. Luyster joined The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce in 1998 and is responsible for the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies for The Scranton Plan and providing site location and financial assistance to firms interested in moving to or expanding within Lackawanna County. In her new role, she will also assume oversight of all workforce aspects of the Chamber’s industrial/economic development operations – including Skills in Scranton. She will also join the Chamber’s Staff Management Committee.
As a member of the Industrial Development team, Ms. Luyster has held the positions of Economic Development Manager, Research and Marketing Director and Scranton Plan Administrator before being named to her most recent role as Assistant Vice President for The Scranton Plan, an annual marketing program designed to provide assistance to firms interested in moving to or expanding within Lackawanna County.
“Amy has earned this promotion based on her long record of success with the Chamber and in our community,” said Bob Durkin, president, The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. “She will strengthen our management team, and add to our enhanced focus on workforce development.”
Since 1998, Ms. Luyster has been actively involved with new construction and expansion projects throughout Lackawanna County. She has played a key role in bringing CIGNA HealthCare, McLane Company, Sears Logistics, Maximus, Select Tissue of Pennsylvania, TMG Health and TJX to Lackawanna and surrounding counties.
Ms. Luyster is a graduate of Wilkes University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communications, concentrating in Public Relations with a minor in Business Marketing. In addition, she is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management at Villanova University. She is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie program and has completed the Economic Development Course in Pennsylvania.
Ms. Luyster was named Top 20 Under 40 by the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal and Northeast Woman by the Scranton Times-Tribune. She serves on the Executive Board of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Regional Bioscience Initiative, Penn’s Northeast and the Lackawanna County Women’s Commission. In addition, she has served as a member of the Marley’s Mission Gala Committee, Susan G. Komen 25th Anniversary Gala Committee and past Trustee for the Everhart Museum. Ms. Luyster is a member of The Pennsylvania Economic Development Association and CoreNet Global.
