Cardinal Laminated Glass, a division of Cardinal Glass Industries, purchased 30 acres from the Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Business Company (SLIBCO) for the construction of a new manufacturing facility in the Valley View Business Park in Archbald. SLIBCO is the industrial development arm of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
Cardinal Laminated Glass intends on moving from its current 60,000-square foot leased space with 75 employees in the Jessup Small Business Center into a new 200,000-square foot facility. This will allow the company to double production lines, in turn creating at least 60 new jobs in the region over the next three years, with a total project cost of more than $20 million in community investment.
“It is really gratifying when a company with a national standing like Cardinal Laminated Glass chooses to expand their business here in Lackawanna County,” said Bob Durkin, president of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and executive vice president of SLIBCO. “We need to tip our hats to the current Cardinal employees, whose work ethic and productivity demonstrated to management that this is the place to grow their operation.”
Every Cardinal Glass Industries facility is exclusive to the product it manufactures. As a strategic focus, typically no other Cardinal products are manufactured in the same facility. In the current Jessup facility, as well as in the newly-planned Archbald facility, Cardinal will produce its laminated glass line, under the Cardinal Laminated Glass division.
In addition to Chamber efforts, participation from Senator John Blake was instrumental in allowing for Cardinal Laminated Glass to expand their facility and continue operations in Lackawanna County.
